Frequently Asked Questions

Can community leaders choose anyone they want?

Both the Chief and Honourable Assembly Member must endorse applicants based on residency, need, and character. This dual-signature system ensures accountability. However, all applications must still meet the academic or trade requirements - the portal checks eligibility automatically.

What if my child doesn't have a letter?

They cannot apply. The letter with both the Chief and Assembly Member signatures is proof that the community knows and supports them.

Can one family get two scholarships?

No. Only one student per immediate family at a time. This ensures fairness across the community.

Can I apply for a trade course even if I didn't do well in BECE?

Yes! Trade courses focus on your interest and aptitude rather than BECE results. We encourage all who want to learn a skill to apply.

What trade courses are available?

We support many trades including electrical, sewing, masonry, mechanics, carpentry, plumbing, welding, hairdressing, catering, and more.

What if my child is rejected by the portal?

The SMS will explain why. Common reasons: grades too low, over age, or missing/incomplete letter (missing either Chief or Assembly Member signature).

Do trade students get tools?

Yes! Trade scholarship recipients receive a starter kit of basic tools and safety gear. Graduates also get support to start their own business.

What happens if my child fails at university or trade school?

They get one chance to improve. If performance does not improve, the scholarship stops and goes to another student.
